Using the Slack site

Slack is easy to use but it takes a little bit of getting used to. If you want more help in using it it can be found here.

The site is a private site, i.e. only those working in the course have access to it.

The easiest way to learn is to have a play with it. It has a notifications system which you can tailor to suit your needs. You can also share files via this platform.

We will make a lot of use of the channels for group discussion. You will need to join the various channels that are on the site.

If you wanted to message an individual you do that by clicking on their display name. That message can't be seen by anyone other than the person to whom you send it.

The red links on this page are collapsible. Click on them to open them.

The name you chose to be displayed on the site will be next to the green dot at the top, your display name. Underneath you will see a header Channels and two channels visible. You need to join the other channels.
